It’s time to step up now for the young riders who have been training their hearts out for the past 15 months with a view to success at the RoadCraft junior world MX race meeting at Taupo on the 15th/16th August.
We have seen a massive improvement in speed and attitude from these riders and I am confident they are very well prepared. We have arranged some of the very best trainers available in New Zealand to work with them. They have covered a huge range of areas that are all keys to success.
It's so much more than just twisting the throttle, as you know. I encourage you to get to Taupo and scream and cheer for our New Zealand team and also to support the Taupo Club who have worked very hard to make this happen.
Mike McLeod the senior MX Commissioner is working hard to put a team together to represent New Zealand at the Motocross of Nations in October in Italy. Two of our top guns have made themselves unavailable unfortunately.
Ben Townley is still full-on trying to get fit after his injuries side lined him. Cody Copper said he needs a break after the tough AMA series, so Mac is looking at other stand-outs over the past 12 months.
I want to publicly thank Steve Sweeney from Australia who is a huge fan of New Zealand MX as he has generously offered to help out financially for the team. Thank you Steve from all your friends here in New Zealand.
Josh Coppins donated a set of his riding gear which was placed on Trade me were it was sold to our own world vets champion Tony Cooksley. Tony said he is a big fan of Josh so we are delighted.
A reminder if you have not re licensed yet you can do this online at www.mnz.co.nz the team are there at the office to help you if you’re not that great on the PC.
Finally I am delighted to report that Demon Energy Drinks have re signed to be the naming rights sponsor for the New Zealand MX Championship. Its a great relationship as we fit their niche with high energy action. This will enable us to televise part of the series this year and raise the public's awareness even more.
Stay safe till next time.
