CEO Newsletter PP - 19

The other day I was talking to Shane Rice who will be familiar to a lot of you as a journo and photographer around the traps. He has started up a web forum which is gaining in momentum.

A topic we covered and agreed on was our concern that a very small number of people were using it as a platform to attack other members and some officials.

I ask you to please consider carefully before you are tempted to become involved in this activity. We operate under a code of conduct as members of MNZ to respect people and not act in a manner that is considered as offensive. Shane agrees and said he will block any contributors and name them if they slander or abuse folks.

Let's enjoy motorcycling and I suggest that constructive suggestions and alternative opinions are generally fare more likely to be heard than some of the rubbish we have read.

On a positive note, MNZ has carried out national training courses for grade 1 and 2 Stewards recently with 130 stewards attending. Grade 3 and 4 training has just kicked off the length of the country and will be

completed in the next five months. Andrew Roigard has done an excellent job refreshing and up skilling our officials which all leads to our Safe Fun and Fair goals.

Lastly, I really hope those interested have taken notice of the Road Racing rules that are up for discussion on the web site currently. We need to review the road forward in these tough times.  If you agree with what has been suggested, write to the Commissioner supporting the rules.

If you don't agree, put an alterative forward for discussion. This process is for YOU to have your say as a valued member, so please take the time to help form the future. You all know my opinions on the matter that we need to reduce the cost to compete.

You just have to look world wide with what is happening with talk from the Moto GP paddock of teams pulling out and down sizing. In America the AMA paddock will sorely miss team Honda's successful road race team as they down size their involvement. The Rally paddock and F1 also retrenching. It will recover I am certain but for the next 2 seasons we need to make our formulas as affordable as possible. So have a safe summer and enjoy those motorcycles its going to be a beauty.
